AerCap doubles number of 2Q lease agreements

.

Dublin-based lessor AerCap Holdings signed lease agreements for 65 aircraft in the 2017 second quarter, more than doubling the 27 leases the company secured in 2Q 2016. AerCap’s signed leases during the quarter covered 18 widebody and 47 narrowbody aircraft, the company said July 12.

AerCap purchased 11 aircraft in the 2Q (eight Airbus A320neos, on A321neo and two Boeing 787-9s) and sold 24 aircraft from its owned portfolio and eight from its managed portfolio.

In April, AerCap announced it had signed $7.2 billion in financing transactions during the 2017 first quarter, a figure that, in three months, eclipsed the company’s entire 2016 financing transaction total by $2.6 billion.

AerCap did not release its financing transaction totals for 2Q 2017, and told ATW it will do so in its 2Q quarterly financial report scheduled for Aug. 3.

At the Paris Air Show in June, AerCap announced a firm order for 30 787-9s, valued at $8.1 billion at list prices, as well as the conversion of 15 737 MAX 8s on order to Boeing’s new MAX 10 variant. AerCap has 100 737 MAX aircraft on order, now comprising 85 MAX 8s and 15 MAX 10s.
